"Moldova and PMR (Transnistria): historical ways and search for identity"

Dear guests!
We are glad to inform you that the project PMR-TOURS (Tours in Transnistria) organizes the seminar on the topic “Moldova and PMR (Transnistria): historic ways and search for identity” on a regular basis. Our seminar can be organized on your request to our email every day after having coordinated with us.

The gist of the seminar:

In the frame of seminar “Moldova and PMR (Transnistria): historical ways and search for identity” we would like to tell you by means of our power point presentation (it includes more than 50 slides) about the main stages of historical development of Moldova and PMR (Transnistria) starting from the 14th century till nowadays. We will try to answer the question, why in the area of the former Soviet Moldavia 2 Moldavian states exist: Moldova as a Republic (official name: Republica Moldova) and Pridnestrovie (Transnistria), which calls itself as Moldavian Republic (official name: Приднестровская Молдавская Республика, Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic).

People, who for the first time heard about our region, may ask a reasonable question resulting from a simple comparison of the names of the 2 studied subjects: why did Moldavian people need to establish 2 states in a such small area? What are the differences between the right and the left Dniester banks, what caused the creation of 2 separate states (a recognized one and a partly recognized one) in early 90-ties of the 20th century? What was the dynamics of the historic development on the territories of Moldova and Pridnestrovie (Transnistria)? In which historic periods have these 2 subjects been together, and in which time did they exist separately from each other? What political choices did the societies in Moldova and PMR (Transnistria) make in early 90-ties of the 20th century? And what goals do they have today?

Sometimes we get the question, why Pridnestrovie (Transnistria) calls itself as Moldavian Republic, whereas the number of ethnic Moldovans makes only the third of population. And sometimes we are getting asked, why the Russian language is so widely spoken in Moldova, while 75% of population on the right bank identify themselves as Moldovans. These phenomena seem to be paradoxical to our guests. In frame of our seminar we will try to explain the background of these facts. Besides that we would like to represent our opinion about the fair solution of Pridnestrovian (Transnistrian) conflict, of course without monopoly on the ultimate truth.
